Once you've learned the basics, the chords are presented beginning with the easiest and
becoming progressively
more challenging. The illustration on the left from lesson 3 shows how
your fingers are referenced. Simple-to-use
chord diagrams tell you where to place each finger for
every chord presented. You'll learn the chords by
remembering their shapes. The two illustrations
below
show how the chord diagram for a D major relates to a triangle finger position:

As straightforward as this is, Teachyourselfguitar.com takes it one step further with Youtube. You see and hear every chord be played from four different views using four different guitars. Here's an example of a D chord as sshown in lesson 9:

You are also taught how to read standard guitar tablature (abbreviated "tab"), which is
universally found in all guitar music. In this type of notation, the lines refer to the strings and
the numbers indicate the frets to be played. Here is the same D chord illustrated in guitar
tablature, fully explained in lesson 3:

Other musical concepts, such as scales and arpeggios, are also taught. The example below shows how a D arpeggio looks like in tablature notation. Click here to hear how it sounds (adjust your speakers accordingly).

See and hear a D major scale as taught in lesson 22 here:

You can also download it here. You will also learn how
to use the chords and scales to build your own riffs and guitar solos. Here's a riff example from Lesson 26, using the notes from the D scale played first at a slow speed, and then fast:

You can also click here to download this riff. Each of the 113 videos can be either viewed in Youtube format or downloaded to your computer as an off-line reference.

If it looks overwhelming, don't worry. Filled with clear explanations and practical exercises,
Teachyourselfguitar.com
takes you every step of the way. Each lesson builds on the material presented in the previous lesson.

This is all just a tiny fraction of what you'll learn when you join Teachyourselfguitar.com. If you want to see the breakdown of the thirty lessons, click here.
